Favicon is not displaying on IE9

Status:    Resolved.

Today I faced an issue. I added favicon.ico as my web site icon but, it is not displaying on IE browser, but in Firefox “favicon” is displaying.


After my half day research in different scenarios, I found the reason, “My icon type was wrong”.
  • Right click on the icon.
  • Click on properties.
  • Click on “Details” tab.
  • Check “Bit depth” properties.
  • It should be “32” to display in IE 9.

    I replaced the icon image with another icon, has “Bit depth” of 32 and fixed the issue.
